It’s hard not to blog. In semi major news, I realized I have not updated cyberphreak.com in ages, several years in fact, so I moved everything to the blog. It is much easier to maintain wordpress pages than coding HTML by yourself. So, this is Cyberphreak.com now. Cyberphreak.com automatically forwards you to here, so only one place to look for information.

Here is my resolution, there will be no blog posts in 2009.
Nothing too exciting here. Glenn keeps growing and learning. It is very cute waking up in the morning to “Daddy, where are you?” He has been very picky about eating lately, more than usual, but at least he is eating. He is just full on energy, that’s for sure. I could not imagine chasing after one of these things at 40+ all day long.
In other news, updated to WordPress 1.7. Layout is much better and modern looking. Flash uploader is actually more broken then previous versions (windows or Linux, ie or Firefox)). Maybe it is just my installation, but I doubt it. But they did include an auto updater, which is a plus, instead of installing your own plugin.
No new tech for me recently, just sticking to watches. No complicated configuration or files to update when your watch gets its energy from a spring. I keep my tech until it breaks or does not meet my needs anymore. Keeps life simpler. To be honest, the only tech that intrigues me is the new breed of netbooks. But, I look at screens way too much, so it is really not that tempting.
Speaking of simpler, over the last year we have gotten rid of endless stuff around the house, too much to list. You really have to ask yourself, if I haven’t used this item in the last 5 years, will I ever use it again? The money is already spent, so just get rid of the darn thing. The basement looks great, which is a good thing.
I know I am sick of one thing, and that is hearing about our governor, Blagojevich. Yeah, he is probably a crooked bastard, so why did we re-elect him in 2006 and not impeach him before? Ah, the joys of living in Illinois.
Christmas and our anniversary are almost here. It’s going to be six years this year. I can truly say they have been the best years of my life.
And, finally, a note about the weather. It has been a wild winter so far. Early snow, lots of cold, and today, 45 MPH+ winds. I hope this old house stands up to another windstorm.
Took some photos of the first sticking snow of the season. It actually is pretty if you are just looking at it and not driving in it. As always, all the photos were taken with my Olympus C-5060WZ. It didn’t even notice the cold, but my hands did. Enjoy!
or Coffee, as we say it. Went to Ikea today and one of the items we picked up was a ‘Kaffe’ coffee press. I know a lot of people swear by them, and now I know why. They are simple to use and make a great cup of coffee. Well, it actually makes about 4 to 5 6 oz cups of coffee. It is strong, but not bitter. Even though it was the same coffee we always use, it tasted much better in the press. No bitter aftertaste and tons of aroma.
It is actually pretty environmentally friendly as well. No electricity or filters needed, and it frees up quite a bit of space on the counter top as well. I should of tried one years ago, but I know a Bodum is much pricier. This one is about $13, which is a steal compared to electrics. Just boil some water, put in 2 Tablespoons of coffee, stir, wait 2 minutes and press down slowly. The whole process, with boiling seems to take less than 5 minutes, with about 45 seconds of actual human interaction.
Not sure why it tastes better, I am thinking:
- The water is hotter, at about 210F instead of 160, like standard drip makers.
- The water is in contact with the grounds longer, instead of dripping through, they are actually in direct contact with the water, for as long as you want.
- The container is all glass (must be a copy of Pyrex) and stainless steel, so no plastic like conventional makers.
- No paper filter. Who knows what flavors that adds.
So far, I know it has to be good, since Tiffany actually drank 2 cups, which she never does 🙂
