Been a while since I have blogged. Owning a new (old) house can really keep you busy. Redid the kitchen, changed all the faucets in the house, and innumerable other things, but the place looks great. It is nothing like owning a condo, in all the good ways. I will keep everyone updated when I start building my arcade machine and any other fun technological stuff.

Closed and moved into our house. It is even better than I thought it would be. So much quieter than the condo.
Condo is still not sold.
Updated my computer to Mandrake 10.0 Official. Very nice, and much snappier with the new 2.6 kernel. Also, Tiffany had me install Mandrake on her laptop instead of Wincrash XP. The 4 times daily virus alerts and constant security updates were too much. There were a few security updates to Mandrake 10, but, it was painless and did not need a reboot.
In the house, put a new roof on, replaced the kitchen faucet, hung many pictures, and the house is looking good so far. Well, time to get back to work. Laters
Sorry it has been a while since I wrote anything. Life is busy as always. Only 11 days until we move into our new house. I am really looking forward to it. Another thing I have been working on is a MAME arcade cabinet. Now that I will finally have the space, I want to build a real arcade machine to run some of my favorite games from my childhood. I will add a new section to Cyberphreak.com when I start really building the cabinet. I have created some solid models on the computer, and have the emulator working well. All I need now is some time and money and tools.
I went for a walk today during lunch, and walked past a McDonand’s. The smell of the grease sickened me to no end, but I did notice one thing. For every young person in there, there was just as many of the geriatric crowd. I think it is sick getting everyone hooked on that food. I was as a kid, and I am paying the price now. I do not eat any fast food, and I am in the midst of losing weight. Obesity in American (and the developed world) is at epidemic proportions, and no one seems to be doing anything about it. Yeah, they stopped the super size at McDonalds, but, one typical meal there is 120% to 180% of your recommended daily caloric intake and over 300% of the fat you should be eating. We need to save the young and the old from this menace. It is more than just one chain, turn on the T.V. and all you see is food adds. Everything from ‘bucket of love’ KFC, to Pizza Hut (I don’t know how they call that sauceless grease disc a pizza), to the dozens of other food chains advertising. Will the madness ever stop?
Got a new toy!
Well, my wife surprised me with a new Sharp Zaurus SL-6000. It is the most amazing hand held computer I have ever seen. The screen is so sharp you can’t even make out the individual pixels. 640×480 on a 4″ diagonal screen is just undescribeable. It makes up for, what I felt, were the weaknesses of the SL-5500 (which has served me well):
Short battery life, the SL-6000 has 5 times the life.
No integrated wireless, the SL-6000 has 802.11b built in.
No integrated speaker/microphone, the SL-6000 has both.
Dim screen, the new screen is bright and sharp.
As I discover the in’s and out’s I will update the Blog.
