March, In like a lion, out like a lion?

I don’t know about you, but I am really sick of this winter that will not end. It is below freezing, it snowed yesterday, and it looks like there is no end in site. I just hope this weather does not continue far into April. I really want to go on a walk with the Glenn Monster. We have had about 3 nice days in the last 5 months.

In other news, Glenn got an early birthday gift from Mommy. He loves it. To find out what it is, you have to come over and visit.

5 years

Today we ‘celebrate’ the fifth anniversary of our invasion and illegal occupation of Iraq. A invasion based on lies , half truths, and deceptions. It has cost our country and the Iraqis dearly. Over 4,000 U.S. soldiers dead, over 30,000 injured. Certainly over 100,000 Iraqis have been killed. I hate calling them Iraqis. They are human beings. Most of them guilty of one crime, being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In terms of money, we are already over the half TRILLION mark in direct costs. In indirect costs, I am sure it is pushing a trillion. I have to ask myself, what was it for?
It was not for making us safer, if anything, we are less safe now.
It was not for oil, we will be paying over $4 a gallon before the year is over.
It was not to make life for Iraqis better. I am sure their standard of living now is far lower than it was before the war.
The Iraqi people were living under a dictatorship. What do you think the Chinese live under? I could name dozens of countries which have oppressive governments. We didn’t do anything about them.
Was this just a personal war to justify the neo-conservatives agenda? That is the only conclusion I can think of. If we really did want to protect our country, we would of finished the job in Afghanistan and taken care of Osama Bin Laden, who is probably still alive and well after SEVEN YEARS.
That is enough ranting for now. This ‘war’ is now the second longest war in U.S. history, after Vietnam. Mission Accomplished.

Ahhh

The weather finally took a turn for the better here.  Took a nice walk at lunch.  The upper 50’s feels great.  Been a really hectic last 3 weeks at work, but it is better now.  I have 4 testers shipped off to China.  I may be a cynic, but I really don’t think companies save all that much shipping manufacturing overseas.

Glenn has been doing ok.  Sleeping though the night most of the time.  He did the cutest thing today while mommy was out doing groceries.  He took my cell phone and was babble talking into it.  He even imitated English cadence and guttural stops.  At one point, he pauses, pointed at me, and started babbling in a serious voice.  It was all very cute.
He has also learned the word cheetah.

Wow.

What a nice birthday this year.  Good food, good family get together and great gifts.
I got 2 games for the DS, a camera for my Zaurus, a really nifty automatic watch winder, a book I wanted, and some more things to come in the mail.  Went to Tiff’s Mom’s today, got more gifts AND I will be getting yet another watch in a few weeks (when it is back in stock.)  All in all a good weekend, for once.

This will be the next watch, another automatic. It is an Orvis Automatic Field Watch, a larger watch, but it should be easy to read.  I think I will more or less retire my light faced Timex after getting this watch.  My watch drawer is getting full!  I should be getting it late this month, when it gets back in stock.  This is actually a good sign, it is the only watch Orvis sells that is out of stock AND gets great reviews.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Feeling a little sick today, but I did get a great Birthday Gift, a new watch!  (I just love watches, always have, probably always will.)

It’s an all black Seiko 5.  It is my first PVD watch, which is a surface coating technology which allows metal watches (or anything else metal) to be coated black.

It is very nice on the wrist, heavy, but not too heavy.
