Last night we put privacy slats in our chainlink fence separating our yard from our neighbor’s dog run, er back yard. The problem was, the little bastards love to urinate through the chain link fence that leads to our detached garage. Recently they have taken to digging up the grass, dirt and feces and flinging it though the fence. (Boy, I really love dogs. All they do is eat, crap, piss, get sick and cost you money, as far as I can tell.) So, now the slats will defect or deter them from taking a wizz on to our side of the fence. It is a lot cheaper than putting up a new fence, that’s for sure. My hands are killing me from doing all the work last night. But, we put it all up, or we would have to work with urine soaked slats the next day. Yes, it is very disgusting.
On a brighter note, today is Tiffany’s 19 week exam. Half way there! Some time this week we should know how many and what sex the baby(ies) are.
The new car is working out well, it is a real pleasure to drive. It is also nice not having to worry about your car as well.
Tiff is feeling pretty good, and she did a really nice job on the nursery. I am glad we got all the house work done ahead of even finding out she was pregnant.
Looking at the nursery really makes me realize I really am going to be a daddy, that and my expanding wife. We finally were able to find some maternity clothes that fix and look nice. I about a week, we should find out if it will be a boy or a girl.
No updates to the photo section, haven’t seen anything that really catches my eye. The photo I took of the rusted sign for the bar will outlast the sign, apparently. The sign is gone, but the bar is still there.
My brother Ron seems to be having a decent time in PR. He has been down there for a few months now, and seems to be doing ok. It’s funny, I know more about his life now than ever. The power of blogs. I didn’t talk to my family for a few years, when I was 18 and thought I knew everything 😛 Now, I do think about everyone more, and my own family to be. Ahh, being an adult.
They say when you have a new baby, you buy a new car. I guess that is true, since we bought a new car yesterday! It is my first new car. For my whole life, the “newest” car I have owned has been about 5 years old, and averaging about 10 to 15 years old. Yep, I buy beaters. Well, no more, bought a 2006 Hyundai Elantra, in electric red. It’s a very nice car. I can’t believe the build quality of Hyundai’s now. I remember when they first came to America, they were Korean Yugos. (Is that really possible?) Now, they are rated above every other car brand, except for Lexus. Needless to say, they cost a bit less than Lexuses. So, I am happy about that.
This blog is being typed from an old Pentium 200MMX with a whopping 40 megabytes of RAM!
I always wanted to get Linux running on an old compuer to see how it is, with the right distribution, it is not bad at all!
I decided to try Damn Small Linux, and installed to a small partition on the hard drive (less than 500MB). It boots up in about 1.5 minutes to X. The package manager is really top knotch. Packages are downloaded and installed as needed. Performance is pretty good, on par with Windows 98 for most tasks, and much better then Windows for video/audio playback. So, if you want to bring life back to a machine built 8 to 10 years ago, give it a try.
In other news, saw an old, white guy with a long, grey beard, rapping in front of a White Castle . The things you see when you take a different route home.
Heard our baby’s heartbeat for the first time 2 days ago!
It is really amazing, and really sinking in. I wonder if everyone feels like this when thier first one is on the way. I think it is an experience that really is part of being human and ties us all together.
In other news, if anyone is looking for a good movie to rent, I highly recommend Grizzly Man. It is a documentary about Timothy Treadwell, the…kinda crazy guy who lived with Grizzly bears for years, until he was eaten by one in 2003.
Very interesting.
Work is going well. Got a decent raise and just in time for the baby. It is good to be appreciated.
