Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick, it’s windy!

Went out for a little while today. It is the first time in memory the wind/cold actually took my breath away. In the 100 feet from the car to the store entrance, we were literally out of breath!
Wind chill wise, it must be -10F or worse out there.
But, it all turned out ok. The mall was very busy, but it really didn’t bother us. The more people, the more Glenn is distracted. All of our Christmas shopping has been done for a while. Glenn was a pretty good boy. We discovered he likes lemonade! Tiff gave him some in Panera and he seemed to like it.
While Tiff was looking at some jewelery, I was looking at some watches. Very few Automatics out there now. All quartz. It’s a shame, really. Quartz watches have close to zero collectors’ value. Saw a bass ackwards Automatic ‘divers’ watch today. It was a Rado, 300m, but it did not have a rotating bezel, had a small, hard to read face, yet had a helium release valve. Just to let you know, helium release valves are only used for truly hard core diving, where you breath a helium/oxygen mix. The watch was $1150 and ugly as sin.  I think it was this model:

Being a first time Dad, I am surprised how much I really love the little guy. It is hard to describe how you feel about Glenn. Lately, has has been wanting hugs while on his changing table. He hugs me close and whispers cute baby sweet nothings in my ear. Make me want to hug him for hours.

Ahh, the Orange Bullet is on my wrist.

Went to the Mother In Law’s today and got my Christmas gift from her, a Seiko “Orange Bullet” Diver’s watch.
It’s a real beauty. Even though it is 42mm in diameter, the lug to lug
distance is about 43mm, so no annoying overhang on my dainty wrists.

You can see it changing the date in this photo.  It changes between
10:30 and midnight.  I did take it out of the box a few weeks ago to
resize the band, but now I can really wear it. I did miss wearing it. I
did get the perfect accessory from Tiffany, a valet with a watch drawer
to hold my slowly growing collection. I’ll take a photo of it when I
get a chance.

Happy Friday

Got out of work early today. Not sure why they let us all out early, holiday spirit?

Looks like Ron and Evelyn are making the great trek back up north. Such lovely weather this time of year. Been much colder, and quite a bit snowier than usual.

Glenn looks like he is teething again. It’s about time for some new teeth, but it sure is nerve racking, especially for Tiffany.

In an amusing turn, I videoed this snowball ambush at work today. Five against one, very fun. I wish it was a little closer, but you do what you can. There is no sound.

R.I.P. Belkin Router

Our old, 802.11b router died after I moved it from my desk to the basement. I put it there to get better reception, but it started acting ‘funny’. First, it would start dropping the WAN connection to the internet. Then, it wouldn’t assign IP addresses to any computer on the network. So, I assume the DHCP server went wonky in it as well. So, wired or unwired, it no longer worked as a router. Maybe the switch function still works, but it did its duty well. By the manufacture date, it looks like it was built in 2000. I remember buying it dirt cheap just when g was starting to come out. I think it cost, after rebate, something like $15.

So, now it is gone and we have wireless g in the house. N means Not a Standard Yet, so I decided against it. I really don’t see the need for greater that 54m/sec at this point.

Still feel like crap, doing other things distracts us from our misery. Nasty little cold/flu. It is the first time we have both been sick at the same time. Usually one or the other gets sick first, so at lease one person can take care of Glenn. Not this time. With a little store brand DayQuil, we at least can function. And N Y BigFuc’ingQ will help us get some sleep tonight.

Another week down

Glad another week is done.  I like my job, but there are times I wish I could stay home and be with Tiffany and Glenn.

Spent part of yesterday moving some furniture around.  It worked out pretty well, no major injuries to report.  Anyone who knows us won’t be surprised.  I used to not like change, but most of the time now it works out for the better.  Tiffany really needed a room to herself, and now she has one.  Which also means I have my own office now as well.  I just have to share it with the pets.  They don’t talk much, so it is ok.
