Eww moment for the day.

I know they are harmless, but they sure are gross looking.

“Luckily” my trusty Olympus captures ever nuance of these rather large bugs.  All hail the super macro mode.
I am glad the cicadas only come out every 17 years.  They are very very loud, to the point your ears will ring after about 30 minutes of exposure.  Jet engine loud.  Freight train loud.  I’ll try to get some good audio next week when I go for my lunch walk.

Like A Virgin

Peed on for the very first time.
While getting Glenn Monster ready for his bath/shower, the little guy decided to empty his baby bladder on me.
It feels just like you think, a little, warm stream of baby pee.

We now bathe him with someone in the tub, today it was me holding him.  He went a second time in the tub with me holding him.  Not quite as exciting a second time.

I have to say, I really don’t get the golden shower fetish people.  It’s really not that thrilling.  It’s warm and wet, but it gets cold really fast and has that fun urine smell.   To each his/her own, I guess.

Glenn Photos, May 2007

Glenn is 11 months old today!
Due to the pain in the assness of doing and organizing photos by week, I am switching to a monthly format.
So, enjoy Glenn, May 2007.

Global Warming/Climate Change: A personal perspective

I know I have only been on this Earth for 33 years, and childhood may of skewed my perspective, but here is what noticed about the local weather and how it has changed since I was a child:

  • It used to be COLD on Halloween, like snowing cold, wish I had a polar bear costume cold.   2 years ago year we were low on candy and I walked to the local drug store in SHORTS.  It was 75+ degrees.  Last year it was in the 60’s.
  • We used to get rain here.  All day rain, or at least for a few hours.  Now it just comes in downpours for about 10 minutes and just stops.
  • It used to be snowy/cold around Christmas.  Now, we rarely get snow before January, if at all.
  • November used to be a cold and bitter month, now it rarely gets below the 50’s.
  • We used to have April showers and May flowers.  In April it rained about 3 days this year.  Similar last year.  It downpours in May now.
  • Trees bud earlier and loose their leaves about a month earlier and later now.

Let me know if you have noticed any changes in your lifetime.  It is a local event, or it is worldwide?

Glad it is a short week.

Been a busy week at home.  Glenn has be grumpier than normal, which makes none of us happy.
I got him to be a regular time tonight, and he ate for me, so I hope he is back into his normal schedule.

Work has been keeping me busy as well.  I have been wiring up 6 new testers, and they are a lot of connections.

One thing that is troubling me is the stock market just keeps going up and up.
Gas is sky high.
The housing market is in the toilet.
Foreclosures are doubling every couple of months.
IBM and Motorola are laying off thousands of people.
Stocks are reaching record highs.
Why?  This seem eerily similar to 1929, too much bought on speculation with little relation to what the average American is experiencing.  I hope this does not end badly.
