Commentary for August 9th, 2003.

No porn for you! It was some interesting reading today in the Chicago Tribune. The article was talking about how John Ashcroft has made it his personal goal to track down and arrest pornographers. Well, I see two problems with this.

1)If it is non-child porn performed by consenting adults, who cares?

2)Aren’t there about a million other things the government should worry about first?

Things like the anthrax mailer, or terrorists entering our borders undetected?

I really don’t care what kind of pornography you like, as long as it does not harm children or animals. People like some sick things, but we rarely act on our darkest fantasies. Isn’t it healthier that the people who want to view disturbing (but fake) pornography watch it rather than actually act upon their desires? I think it is a terrible waste of resources when the individuals who killed more than 3000 people like you and me are still free! I wound rather not have to worry about death in the mail or buildings collapsing than worry about if some ADULT wants to watch simulated rape between PAID CONSENTING ADULTS.I still remember when Ashcroft spent thousand of taxpayer dollars to cover some exposed classical (nude) statues. Think of the thousands used for than could have been used to feed needy school children and not covering a representation of a beautiful thing, the human body.

Well, enough of that. Hope this rant made you think.
